Your vehicle’s braking system is one of its most important safety systems. From everyday driving around town to travelling longer distances, your brakes need to provide predictable stopping power when you need them. Regular inspections and servicing can help identify worn or damaged components before they develop into more serious problems.

Squealing, grinding, vibration or a brake pedal that feels different from normal should never be ignored. These symptoms can indicate that your brakes need professional inspection. Common Signs Your Brakes Need Attention Brake problems can develop gradually, so it is worth paying attention to changes in how your vehicle feels or sounds. Warning signs can include: Squealing or grinding: Persistent brake noise can be caused by worn brake pads or other components requiring inspection. A spongy or soft pedal: This can indicate an issue with the hydraulic braking system and should be checked promptly. Brake pedal pulsation: Vibration through the pedal or steering wheel when braking may be associated with brake rotor issues. Longer stopping distances: If your vehicle does not stop as confidently as it normally does, have the braking system inspected. Brake warning light: A warning light on the dashboard can indicate a problem that requires professional diagnosis. Not every brake noise or symptom has the same cause, which is why an inspection is important rather than simply replacing one component based on the symptom alone. What Does a Brake Service Include? At Critch Automotive Group, our technicians can inspect and service the braking system to help keep your vehicle safe and performing as it should. Depending on the condition of your vehicle, brake services may include brake pad replacement, brake rotor resurfacing or replacement, brake fluid flushing and replacement, brake caliper servicing and other necessary brake repairs.

Brake fluid is also an important part of the braking system. Over time, it can absorb moisture and its condition can deteriorate, so it should be checked and replaced according to your vehicle manufacturer's recommendations.

A professional brake inspection allows worn components and potential problems to be identified before they cause further damage or compromise braking performance. Why Regular Brake Inspections Matter Brake components naturally wear as you drive, with the rate of wear influenced by factors such as driving conditions, traffic, vehicle load and towing. Regular inspections are particularly worthwhile if your vehicle regularly carries heavy loads, tows a trailer or is driven on regional roads.

As a Repco Authorised Service centre, Critch Automotive Group uses quality replacement parts and appropriate workshop equipment when servicing braking systems. Our services are also backed by the Repco Authorised Service Nationwide Warranty, providing cover for eligible repairs for up to 12 months or 20,000 kilometres, whichever occurs first, Australia-wide.

If your brakes are making unusual noises, the pedal feels different, or it has simply been a while since they were inspected, book a professional brake inspection at Critch Automotive Group in Chinchilla. Looking after your brakes is an important part of keeping you, your passengers and other road users safer.

Engines that operate through internal combustion rely on large amounts of clean air to ensure the fuel burns properly and generates the power needed to drive the vehicle. At Critch Automotive Group in Chinchilla, we understand how vital it is to keep your car's air filter in good condition as part of protecting your engine's health. Your engine requires extremely clean air to function efficiently. Dirt, dust, and other particles entering the engine can cause serious damage. That’s where the air filter comes into play. It ensures the air entering the combustion chambers is clean, shielding key engine components such as the pistons and cylinders from wear and damage. Why Replace Your Air Filter? Save on Fuel Costs: Your engine requires the correct balance of fuel and air to run efficiently. A clogged air filter restricts airflow, causing your engine to run inefficiently – often referred to as ‘running rich.’ This not only puts additional stress on your engine but can also increase fuel consumption by up to 10%. No one likes spending more on petrol than necessary! Protect Your Engine: Over time, air filters become clogged and weaker, increasing the risk of damage. A damaged or overly dirty air filter can allow harmful particles to enter the engine, potentially leading to expensive repairs. Benefits of Replacing Your Air Filter: Extends the life of your engine Improves fuel efficiency Reduces vehicle emissions At Critch Automotive Group, we always check the condition of your air filter during every full car service. Whether it’s a major or minor service, or one that follows your manufacturer’s handbook or logbook guidelines, you can trust us to keep your engine running smoothly.

Keep your engine healthy with clean air filters. Improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and extend engine life. Visit Critch Automotive Group for expert maintenance and reliable car servicing.
